To enable timely access to pharmaceutical relief for the five most commonly seen symptoms causing distress during palliation, we commissioned the Palliative Care Access to Medicines Program.

Over 50 local pharmacies are now involved in the project, aligning the stocking and prescription of a set of core medicines to provide relief for pain, dyspnoea, nausea, noisy breathing, and delirium.

We commenced the Enabling Choice for South Australians (ECSA) initiative across our region to better support residents (from admission to end of life) to plan and make decisions about their treatment and care.

So far, the initiative has supported 2 facilitators to drive quality improvement and capacity building activities via a partnership with 8 Residential aged care organisations and their 30 local Residential Aged Care Facilities.
